He was preceded in death by his dad, Jim Grigsby; mom, Betty Stadtmiller Grigsby; and brother-in-law, Richard LeBlanc.
Rod loved to be outdoors, in all that God created. He could either be found on the open road, riding his Harley, or on the lake running trotlines and crappie fishing. To his grandchildren he will always be known as PaPa Harley. He took many road trips on his bike, even to visit his brother in California. Nothing made Rod happier than being surrounded by family and friends while working on a pot of jambalaya.
Rod was a 1974 graduate of Irvin High School, in El Paso, TX. Soon after, he moved to East Texas. Where he started his family and built his life. To his children, Rod was the example of true work ethic and their provider. He retired from Lone Star Steel, after 34 years. From September 1974 to August 2008 he was the Relief Foreman and Machinist. He then worked at Trinity Industries from 2012 until 2016. As a Pastor Rod touched many lives and brought many to the Lord. He launched the Southside Baptist Church, in August 1984 Pastored there until August 1988. He remained a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Ore City, after being the Pastor. He also attended Grace Creek Church, in Longview, TX.
The family wish to acknowledge the many who cared for Rod, lifelong friends Guy Cudd and Doug Hightree; caretaker and neighbors, Pat and Delmar Werts, and Ray Gilmore. The incredible Nursing Team at Harbor Hospice: Ashley, Charmaine, and Jacqualyn.
