Jeanie Lou Stephens, 63, of Hughes Springs, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, May 27, 2023. Jeanie was born February 1, 1960 in DeKalb, Bowie County, Texas to Alvin Lee, Sr. and Myrtle Ester Smith.
In 1976, she married Brian Stephens and settled in Hughes Springs, Texas, where they called home and raised two wonderful boys. She worked for the First United Methodist Church in Hughes Springs for 38 years. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing with her grandkids and watching them grow. She also loved fishing and crocheting, and talking to everyone she came into contract with. She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church and absolutely loved her Lord, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Ward and Myrtle Strawn; and one brother, Tommy Ward.
Jeanie is survived by her husband, Brian Stephens; two sons, Paul (Amy) Stephens of Daingerfield, Texas and Jared (Ryan) Stephens of Lone Star, Texas; three grandchildren, Brayden, Levi, and Easton Stephens; four brothers, Alvin Smith, Jr. of Hughes Springs, Texas, Mark Smith of DeKalb, Texas, Doug (Stacie) Smith of Blossom, Texas, and James Smith of Avery, Texas; two sisters, Janet (Jeff) Butler of Hughes Springs, Texas and Edith King of Lone Star, Texas; and numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Alana Home Health care.
Services for Mrs. Jeanie will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Hughes Springs Methodist Church. There will be a time for visitation starting one hour prior to service time.Β Arrangements entrusted to Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs.
