August 5, 1961 ~ August 5, 2023

Resided in: Hughes Springs , Texas

Debbie’s life spanned a half a dozen often distinctly changing phases.  From childhood through young adulthood, motherhood, several marriages, finally living with a long illness that claimed her life too early.  Deborah Lynn Kelley, 62 of Hughes Springs, TX was born on August 5, 1961 in Linden, TX and passed away on her 62nd birthday, August 5, 2023.

Debbie will be remembered for many things, mostly her amazing hugs.  She loved to give and receive a hug.  Deb was an old school historian full of wonderful life stories and she loved to tell them. We remember her unconditional love for her friends and family and her unwavering faith. Her vibrant personality brightened every room. The emotion with which she sang, her beautiful smile and her intelligent eyes. She was many things to many people and survived by many friends who will miss her.

Little Debbie Putman, a grandchild who loved and worshipped her grandparents, Abbie Marie and Henry Kenneth Putman.  Granny & Granddaddy Put.  The stories she did tell. When she was five, she and her and pawpaw snuck out to “steal” a watermelon from Granddaddy’s patch and it tickled her to no end. These grandparents and her mother’s parents Mack and Maxine (Mcxie) Kerr, preceded her in death.  Mcxie Kerr has a special place in her heart.

Deborah Lynn Putman, an only child. Preceded in death by Annette Stephens, a mother she loved with all of her heart and a woman who sometimes really frustrated her. Her confidant, friend and protector, she was dearly missed by Deb. Even after she passed, Deb never stopped talking to her.

Debbie, a daughter, blessed with two fathers who preceded her in death.  Her father KA Putman; she loved without fault.  Deb endured the pain of caring for him daily during his last few months. KA passed away early in her life, at the age of 50. Joe Stephens, gifted to her by her mother’s second marriage, she called “Daddy”.  He was a strong and loving father for the next 30 years.  In 2018, his passing broke her heart.

Debbie, Putman, Hall, Kelley, an eternal mother to all.  Debbie was a lifelong Mother & Grandmother to every child she touched. As a bus monitor for many years, in Hughes Springs, she is remembered by many riders.  As a young mother she participated in, and attended, endless school and church events, both for her own and all children of Hughes Springs. Debbie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mcxie and Bryan Hurst of Minneola, TX, daughter Mandi Smith of Bremerton, WA, and daughters Kara and Kendra Kelley of Georgetown, TX.

Meemaw, a cherished phase of Deb’s life – one she surely loved the most.  Deb was deeply saddened knowing that she would not get to share in the growing lives of her grandkids.  Deb is survived by her grandchildren Abbie, Zoie, Mazie, Elizabeth, and Alexa.

Debbie Kelley, a deserving woman who found unwavering love, her greatest joy and her biggest smiles as a queen to her king and husband who survives her, Kelly D. Kelley.  Deb spent the last 15 years of her life, in sickness and in health, in the safe and loving arms of Kelly.  Without fail they held hands and shared life with each other every day they were together.  She was his breath, his heart, and the love of his life.
