Funeral services for Ms. Charlene Traylor, age 90, of Daingerfield, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rhodes Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  

Charlene Turner Traylor was the 8th child born to Charlie and Eliza Turner on June 24, 1928 in Morris County, Texas.  She passed away March 17, 2019at her home.

Sister Traylor attended school at JJ Rhoads High in Daingerfield, Texas.

She united with New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful and active member until her health failed. As “Mother of the Church”, Sis. Traylor served on the food committee, was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the choir. She supported every ministry of the church and traveled to and far with the church.

Charlene worked for many years as a domestic engineer and for Cox Relish Company.

She was married to OC Traylor who preceded her in death. Sis. Charlene was also preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Eliza Turner; daughter, Emma Lois; son, Kenneth (Wanda) Traylor; five brothers, Leroy Turner, James (Claudine) Turner, Willie Earl Turner, Clarence Turner and Melvin Turner; five sisters, Louise (Jimmy) Hatten, Azilee Turner, Annie Maude (Sammie) McDaniel, Emma Jean Turner, and Eddy Turner; and a special nephew, Charles E. Stern who resided with her.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Billy (Jackie) Gilbert of Atlanta Georgia, Otis Charles (Shamkea) Traylor of Daingerfield; daughter, Darlene Lee of Hughes Springs; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; special nephew, Terry Turner who resided with her; and a number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
