Linden TXMartin Gettis Tindel, 90, of Linden , passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013 in Linden. He was born July 15, 1922 in Canton, Texas to John Rufus and Bessie Briggs Tindel. He was a brick mason, served during WWII in the Army, 14th Armored Division Artillery Headquarters Battery under General Patton, and a deacon in the Linden Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary, one brother and four sisters. Survivors include his wife, Lutherene Hancock Tindel of Marietta; three daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Wynn of Dallas, Cynthia Ann and Cecil Adams of Wills Point, and Paula Lanier of Linden; a son, Mark Phillips of Dallas; step daughter, Joy Berryhill of McLeod; two step sons, Darrell Hancock of Bloomburg and Jon Hancock of Mansfield; two sisters, Dell Lee of Linden and Janice Aagenes and husband, Butch, of Rockwall; several grandchildren and host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden with Rev. John Taylor officiating. Interment will be at 4:30 pm in Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton, Texas. A visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
