Grady James was born January 24, 1920in Marietta, TX. He was the second child of four children born to the union of the late Jeffie and Anna James.
He accepted Christ at an early age in Marietta where he also attended school. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and began farming after his discharge. He was employed for 39 years at the Hughes Springs ISD as a bus driver/custodian and a mechanic at the McMillon Motor Company for 43 Years.
Grady was united in marriage for 47 years to the late Dorotha Holloman James. The Lord blessed this union with five daughter, Deltha, Daphine, Dorcus, Dynita, and Dorian.
Grady was a humble, loving , understanding, giving man, who would give you his all to help anyone in need. His hobbies included listening to country music, driving the community to Six Flags, giving hay rides at the family reunions, fixing cars and building and repairing homes.
He was preceded in death by one son, Grady James, Jr; one brother, L.E. James; two sisters, Dewell Johnson of Menlo Park, and Lovie Babcock of Baja, Mexico.
Left to cherish his memories are seven daughter, Charlotte Cloud of Ft. Worth, Anna Blackmon (Frederick) of Ft. Forth, Deltha Henderson (Claude) of Hughes Springs, Daphine Wright of Irving, Dorcus Williams (John) of Cedar Hill, Dynita Henderson (Rayford) of Longview and Dorian James (Roger) of Plano; six grandsons, Kenneth James (Angela) of Ft. Worth, Allen James of Ft. Worth, Darnard James of Hughes Springs, Gerald Patton Jr. of Ft. Worth, Gernarrow Patton of Longview, and Nicklous Williams of Cedar Hill; three granddaughters, Keisha James, Demishia Valdez (Jose) of Irving, Doriana Lyon of Plano; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church in Hughes Springs, Burial will follow at Love Chapel Cemetery in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation Friday evening at the funeral home.
