Eddie Dian Sumrall, a kindhearted and tender soul, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2025, in Marble Falls, Texas, at the age of 79. Born on October 21, 1945, in Hughes Springs, Texas, to Edward and Pauline Summerlin, Dian lived a life full of love, creativity, and faith. Known affectionately as the “#1 best mom and grandma,” Dian’s devotion to her family was unmatched and well-known to all who had the joy of knowing her. Her nurturing spirit and gentle heart made her home a haven for her children and grandchildren. Dian was a gifted artist who found joy in painting, particularly murals, through which she expressed her love of beauty and life. Her passion for art was a reflection of her colorful and compassionate soul. Her favorite color was purple—a vibrant hue that matched her warm and lively personality. Her deep and enduring faith was the cornerstone of her life. Dian loved Jesus with her whole heart and lived as a shining example of grace and devotion, inspiring those around her with her steadfast belief and loving nature. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Gene Sumrall, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love was a foundation for the family they built and cherished together. Dian is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Pauline Summerlin; her sisters Joan, June, and Linda; and her dear friends Mike Sampson and Roger Humphrey. She is survived by her loving husband, Gene; her daughters, Cindie Lowden, and Suzanne Greene and husband Adam; her grandchildren, Nick Light, Natalie Regli, Lyndsay Johnson, Joshua Greene, Noah Greene, and Abby Greene; and two great-granddaughters, Talitha and Euphemia Regli. Dian also leaves behind her sister, Kathy Lancaster and husband Danny; lifelong friends since kindergarten, Mary Ellen Sampson, Carol and Billy Parrymore, Judy Humphrey, and Nancy and John Nelson; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Dian’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, faith, and art. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew her.
