Robert Glenn Dunaway, Sr. (84) passed away on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at home in Cedar Springs, Texas.  Glenn was born December 7, 1939, in Moro, Arkansas to James Howard Dunaway and Anna Lyle Dunaway.

Glenn proudly served his country by serving in the Air Force from 1958 to 1963 as a Medical Lab Specialist.  Although he was never called to combat duty, he always said he was “Keeping San Antonio safe!”

As a devoted husband and father, Glenn lived a full life serving the Lord and providing for his family.

Glenn was called to the ministry while attending Hopewell Baptist Church and later ordained through Pleasant Run Baptist Church in Colleyville, TX in April 1968.

As a dedicated educator, music minister, and pastor, Glenn devoted his life to uplifting others through faith and service.  His powerful testimony inspired many as he shared his message of hope and love for Christ in every community he touched.

Christmas was a special time for him.  He proudly owned and operated Dunaway’s Christmas Tree Farm for 6 years. It became a family tradition to put up the Christmas tree on his birthday.  Surrounded by loved ones, he could often be found listening to his favorite Christmas tunes.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Lyle Dunaway and James Howard Dunaway, Sr.  Siblings: James Howard Dunaway, Jr., Ernest Hayes Dunaway, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Saleeby and Samual Walter Dunaway, Sr.

Left to cherish is his memory are Jean Dunaway his loving wife of 62 years, their children: Detra Lynne Foster (Doug), Robert Glenn Dunaway, Jr. (Jana), James McClain Dunaway (Gena) and Andrea Elizabeth Brandon (Jeff).  “PawPaw” as he was affectionately known will be forever remembered by his 14 grandchildren: Justin, Clint, Megan, Emma, Joshua, Whitney, Brandon, Hailey, Carter, Krystian, Natalie, John, James and Sarah, and his 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Heartsway Hospice and Visiting Angels for the comfort and support they provided over the past couple of years.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Cedar Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Craig Evers officiating. Burial will follow at Coffeeville Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.
